Good handling facilities contribute much to the easy, safe, rapid and humane handling of the animals and are essential to any cattle operation. Good facilities need not be overly expensive, although it pays to invest in quality for the critical features. Use pressure-treated posts, sturdy gates, galvanized nails and bolts, strong latches and a good squeeze. This leaflet outlines the principles of cattle behavior and the equipment requirements for a cattle handling facility.
