Plan 9101

Building Your Own Roof Trusses

This plan provides information regarding the construction of your own roof trusses. The truss plan that is selected should be specifically suited for the particular building situation taking into account snow loading, lumber grade, truss spacing and building material. Be sure that the truss plan meets local requirements for snow and other loads. One should also keep in mind that a roof system is only as strong as the weakest truss; and any truss is only as strong as the weakest connection or piece of material that is used. For such reasons, lumber design must incorporate a relatively high factor of safety.
